Regular Heroic, Titan Rune or entry raid: where your time pays off most
Where does your time really pay off?
This answer changes depending on your character and your week. The most common mistake is investing time in content that you can get into, but that is no longer the best use of your time.
In WotLK, the right comparison between common heroic, Titan Rune and entry raid needs to look:
- gear return
- real difficulty
- time per run
- group quality
- what your character still needs
Expected return from each type of content
Common Heroic
It's the gateway. It works very well for:
- fresh 80
- complete home base
- learn route and function
- fill weak slots early
Titan Rune
It usually comes into play as the best value content when you've already passed the rawest phase of common heroics. In addition to the increase in difficulty, this format was introduced as a new layer of heroics with changes and more interesting loot, and the system uses the Mysterious Device within the heroics to activate the difficulty.
Inbound raid
Here the value goes up when your group can consistently turn time into a dead boss. Entry raids start to pay off more when you already have a base so you don't spend the whole night cleaning up messes.
When each route is more advantageous
Common Heroic is worth more when:
- your character is still raw
- basic slots are missing
- you are still learning the function
- the incoming raid would still be too much weight
Titan Rune is worth more when:
- common heroic has become too small
- you need stronger/more current loot
- your group can withstand greater difficulty without collapsing
- you want a good bridge between 5-man and raid
Inbound raid is worth more when:
- you already have enough foundation
- the group actually kills bosses
- your time yields more in progress than in repetitive farming
How to switch formats within the week
For fresh 80
- first complete base in common heroic
- then mix Titan Rune with clear objective
- only then consolidate incoming raid
For intermediate character
- Titan Rune becomes very valuable
- incoming raid gains priority on days with a good group
- common heroic is just a complement
For more ready character
- common heroics almost always lose priority
- Titan Rune and incoming raid fight for the best value for money
Time allocation errors
1. Staying too long on common heroics
You go in, it cleans easily, but the return is already too small.
2. Jumping too soon to content that the group does not support
This generates hours of bad attempts and little real gain.
3. Ignore Titan Rune out of laziness
It exists exactly to bridge the gap between heroic and raid.
4. Joining an incoming raid without being really ready
Time invested without a dead boss can yield less than it seems.
Decision checklist by profile
Before choosing where to spend your time, review:
- Does my character still need a base or does it already need a bigger upgrade?
- Does common heroic still give me relevant feedback?
- Can I handle Titan Rune consistently?
- Does my group's entry raid kill the boss or just try?
- Is my goal for the week to learn, learn or progress?
Minimum recommendation
Fresh 80
Start with common heroic, but don't get stuck there.
Intermediate
Titan Rune is usually the best bridge between time and return.
More ready
Entry Raid starts to yield more, as long as your group actually converts time into progress.
The best answer is never fixed. It's the one that pushes your character the most in that specific phase.
