Why do emblems control progression so much?
Because they solve bottlenecks that drop doesn't solve quickly:
- tier
- trinket
- large slot
- relic/idol/totem/libram/sigil
- difficult to replace parts

Best sources of badges by stage
Phase 1
heroics and raids of the phase itself
Phase 2
Ulduar and heroics/Titan Rune start to matter more
Phase 3

Phase 4

The general logic is almost always:
- real bottleneck
- hard to drop slot
- tier when the bonus pays off
- large slot with very high value
- refinement
The mistake is to buy because “it is available”, and not because “it is the best use of the currency now”.

often prioritize:
- trinket
- defensive piece with great impact
- tier bonus when consistency actually changes
Healers
tend to value:
- weapon/trinket
- throughput/mana
- tier according to the spec bonus
DPS
typically want:
- weapon or indirect equivalent
- trinket
- tier or big slot
- caps and off-pieces later
Most common impulsive buying mistakes

4. Spending without looking at the next phase
5. Copy priority from another spec

- Which currency is the central currency of the stage?
- Does this expense change my character now?
- Is there a reasonable chance of this slot dropping soon?
- is tier worth more than off-piece today?
- Am I spending out of a bottleneck or on impulse?
Minimum recommendation
Level badges work best when you:
- Know what to farm
- understand the current currency
- buy high impact slot
- think about your spec, not the general average
The best spending of emblems is always the one that changes your character's phase — not just the one that increases your item level.
