What makes Mining slow?
Typically, it's not the profession itself. This is the way to upload:
- bad route
- changing maps too soon
- misused smelting
- unproductive displacement
- farm without skill plan
Mining becomes much faster when you decide in advance: will I climb by route, by smelting or by a combination of both?
1. Most efficient routes by skill range
The good logic is:
- stay within a useful range as much as possible
- change route only when the return falls
- avoid going back and forth too much per map
The best route is not the most beautiful. This is what reduces:
- dead time
- competition
- knotless walking
2. When to use smelting to speed up progress
Smelting works best when:
- you already have the ore in hand
- the track allows useful skill gain
- going out into the world would be slower than merging
- you want to complete a skill transition without wasting time
The mistake is treating smelting as always best — or never using it when it would solve the step.
3. How to reduce unproductive commuting
- group the skill into blocks
- use routes consistent with your lane
- avoid a bad map just because “they always recommended it”
- combine smelting when it shortens the transition
4. Errors that slow down Mining
- changing zones too soon
- insist on a saturated route
- ignore useful smelting
- farm without looking at the skill range
- transform the profession into a long and empty walk
5. Evolution plan from 1 to 450
Phase 1
climb with a simple route and little competition
Phase 2
switch route and smelting when progression gets stuck
Phase 3
use Northrend with more focus on continuity and return
Phase 4
close the cap without inventing an overly complex route
Speed Checklist
- [ ] is my current route still worth the lane I'm in?
- [ ] does using smelting now shorten my progression?
- [ ] am I wasting time on a bad commute?
- [ ] Is the zone change really necessary?
- [ ] Am I increasing my skill or just rotating the map?
Minimum recommendation
Mining becomes much faster when:
- you respect the right lane
- use smelting strategically
- Cuts unnecessary commuting
Climbing fast is not running faster. It's wasting less time.
