Pit of Saron, Forge of Souls and Halls of Reflection: Frozen Halls guide
What are the Frozen Halls
The Frozen Halls are a block of three dungeons in Icecrown:
- Forge of Souls
- Pit of Sharon
- Halls of Reflection
They share a theme, narrative and a natural progression of difficulty. In practical terms, they are great for those who want to evolve with a clear objective.
Recommended order for beginners
- Forge of Souls (smoother entry)
- Pit of Saron (intermediate step)
- Halls of Reflection (greater coordination requirement)
Starting straight with HoR is one of the most common causes of frustration in pugs.
1) Forge of Souls
Strong point: short and direct dungeon, good for warming up the group.
Main attention:
- Do not ignore basic positioning mechanics
- Avoid unnecessary pulls due to haste
Ideal use: first run of the session to stabilize the group.
2) Pit of Saron
Strong point: good balance between difficulty and reward.
Main attention:
- Pack control and focus on dangerous targets
- Don't overdo the pull rate if the healer is pressed
Ideal use: consistent farm for a group that is past the "total fresh" phase.
3) Halls of Reflection
Strong point: real coordination challenge.
Main attention:
- Waves require control and target priority
- Bad positioning here costs you a quick wipe
- Escape phase calls for calm and clean execution
Ideal use: group with minimal communication and well-defined role.
Errors that break the most runs in Frozen Halls
- Jump from FoS straight to HoR without preparation
- Tank forces rhythm without checking healer resource
- DPS hits wrong target in critical waves
- Lack of simple chat/voice calling
Frozen Halls are not impossible. The problem is almost always organization, not gear.
Which dungeon to farm first?
It depends on your profile:
- Short session: Forge of Souls
- Balanced progress: Pit of Saron
- Serious coordination training: Halls of Reflection
For most players, FoS + PoS as a base and HoR when the group is stable is the most efficient route.
Quick checklist for Frozen Halls
- Set priority target before waves
- Enter with basic consumables
- Confirm pull rhythm with healer
- Save cooldown for damage spikes
With these adjustments, Frozen Halls see a strong path of progression, not a pug lottery.
