Why does Rogue intimidate PvP beginners?
The class seems to require fast reads, a perfect opener, and clean execution from the very first second. That's true at higher levels. But to get started, you don't need all of that at once.

Which spec to use in PvP for beginners?
Subtlety — most recommended for arena
Subtlety is the standard PvP spec for Rogue in WotLK. It has the best control kit, Shadowstep for gap-closing, and the most efficient burst in short arena windows.
The learning curve is real, but the spec teaches you the right fundamentals from the start.

Assassination — simpler to start with
Assassination has a more straightforward rotation and more consistent damage. It's a good option for players who want to understand the class before diving into Subtlety.

Combat — less used in PvP
Combat is the Rogue's PvE spec. It works in BG but falls short in arena due to lack of control and mobility. Avoid for competitive PvP.

Fundamentals that matter more than build
- Consistent opener — pick your target, enter stealth, and open the same way every time until it becomes automatic
- Knowing when to disengage — Vanish and Shadowstep exist for resets, not just panic escapes
- Don't use everything on reflex — Blind, Kidney Shot, and Gouge have timing. Using them on impulse wastes the exchange
- Resilience first — before thinking about burst, build your basic resilience set
Routine to start in PvP
- Farm honor in BG with Assassination until you have basic resilience
- Learn the Subtlety opener in duels or BG
- Enter 2v2 with a partner who can absorb pressure (healer or another control class)
- Move to 3v3 after that
Rogue in PvP grows much more through repetition of fundamentals than through spec changes. The class clicks when the stealth → opener → control → reset cycle becomes second nature.
