The longest dungeons and when they are really worth it

The longest dungeons and when they are really worth it

•Dungeons by Goal•Brendo Arruda

When does a long dungeon pay off?

When she delivers:

  • important upgrade
  • farm you really need
  • useful workout
  • specific feedback that short ones don't give

If the long run doesn't close any of these points, it becomes a waste of time disguised as progress.

Dungeons with longer duration and motif

The longest dungeons tend to be longer by:

  • more extensive layout
  • mandatory events
  • more boring packs
  • bosses with more risk of error
  • less linear route

This is not a defect. It just means that the choice needs to be more conscious.

In which scenarios does the return pay off?

It's worth it when:

  • the target loot is there
  • the group is stable
  • you want a longer and more closed session
  • the run covers an objective that does not exist in the short runs

It's less worth it when:

  • your time is tight
  • the pug is weak
  • the return is generic and could come via a faster route

How to prepare a group to reduce friction

  1. enter with a clear objective
  2. Align your rhythm before the run
  3. know where the dungeon most often breaks
  4. do not transform the instance at impossible speed
  5. adapt the comp to the type of difficulty

Timing errors

  • enter long dungeon without real time
  • try “just a quickie”
  • go with clearly unstable pug
  • seek generic feedback on content that asks for specific motivation

Decision checklist for long run

  • [ ] do I really have time to complete it?
  • [ ] Is the dungeon return specific and useful?
  • [ ] can the comp get through without drama?
  • [ ] Does the instance make sense for my moment?
  • [ ] Am I choosing her out of objective or impulse?

Minimum recommendation

Long dungeoneering is worth it when:

  1. the return is clear
  2. the group can handle it
  3. the session time allows

Good long run is investment. Bad long run is delay with content appearance.
