The pet mistakes that hold Hunter players back the most

The pet mistakes that hold Hunter players back the most

•Classes•Brendo Arruda

Why does the pet get in the way so much when it's poorly controlled?

Because it affects:

  • damage
  • positioning
  • pulls
  • the group's pace
  • the overall feel of the class

A Hunter with an out-of-control pet looks disorganized even when the rest of the setup is good.

1. Pet behaviors that cause wipes

Going where it shouldn't

Why fix it: To stop the pet from opening a pack, pulling the wrong boss or dragging out the fight.

Advancing without supervision

Why fix it: To stop relying on luck to keep the dungeon from falling apart.

2. Target and repositioning problems

The pet gets in the way a lot when it:

  • picks a bad target
  • takes too long to come back
  • keeps hitting from the wrong spot
  • ends up far from where it should be

Bad repositioning is lost damage and risk at the same time.

3. Pet upkeep failures in combat

  • letting the pet die for nothing
  • forgetting to check its state
  • using the pet as if it were autonomous
  • only noticing the problem when the fight has already gone wrong

4. Settings that prevent recurring mistakes

A good pet setup needs to:

  • reduce unnecessary autonomy
  • make quick control easier
  • make it clear when it should act and when it should come back
  • help the player correct things quickly

5. Pet checklist before group content

  • [ ] does the pet have the right behavior?
  • [ ] do I know how to bring the pet back quickly?
  • [ ] is my pet attacking the right target?
  • [ ] is it dying or getting lost too often?
  • [ ] is my group suffering because of my pet?

Minimum recommendation

The Hunter's biggest pet mistakes are:

  1. too much autonomy
  2. bad position
  3. lack of attention from the player

A good pet isn't the one that looks independent. It's the one that is always under control.
