How to think about Arms progression in PvE?
Arms cannot be frosted like Fury with another tree. The spec has a very sensitive progression to:
- caps -weapon quality
- Armor Penetration
- content phase
This means that the route needs to change as the character grows.
Gear path for Arms since fresh 80
Step 1
Assemble a stable base:
- strong weapon
- enough hit for content
- coherent offensive gear
- useful trinkets
Step 2
Enter heroics, reputation and crafted to fix big slots.
Step 3
Use incoming raids and emblems to refine the set.
Step 4
After a certain point, start treating Armor Penetration as the centerpiece of the spec when it really pays off.
Items with the greatest impact per phase
Fresh / input
- weapon
- trinket
- basic caps
- big slots with strength and crit/hit
Middle of the progression
- slots that help transition to ArP
- upgrades that keep the set coherent
Endgame
- parts with strong ArP
- high value weapon
- complete setup adjusted to the final spec profile
Difference between input and advanced options
In the beginning, Arms needs to work. It doesn't need to look like a final build.
Good entry option
It's the one that:
- respect hit
- keeps the rotation alive
- uses strength and crit in a healthy way
- doesn't make you chase ArP too early
Good advanced option
It's the one that's already strong in Armor Penetration because the gear really supports it.
Order of upgrades for raid consistency
- weapon
- trinket
- basic caps
- big slots
- transition to ArP when phase permits
- refinement of the final setup
Arms severely punishes the player who jumps from step 2 to 5 out of anxiety.
Summary route to ideal setup
Short and efficient phase
- close the fresh base
- look for weapons early
- refine trinkets and large slots
- only then adopt the ArP profile with confidence
- finish the setup when the gear is really ready for it
Minimum recommendation
For Arms to render in PvE:
- treat gear as a step route
- Don't force Armor Penetration too soon
- prioritize weapons and trinkets
- respect hit and consistency first
- only change the spec profile when the set supports it
Arms grows very well when progression respects the right moment for each stat.
