Holy Paladin PvE: build for raid healer

Holy Paladin PvE: build for raid healer

•Classes•Brendo Arruda

Why does Holy Paladin have so much weight in raids?

Because it is a spec that offers:

  • very stable cure
  • excellent response on priority targets
  • great value on long dates
  • very strong structural presence in raid comp

In WotLK, Holy Paladin is not just “a good healer”. It is one of the safest healer references for organized PvE.

Essential talents for stable healing in raid

The build needs:

  1. Enhance consistent throughput
  2. improve mana economy
  3. Sustain your strong healing identity on target and group as the encounter
  4. Avoid good-looking talent that delivers little in the way of real content

The base of the tree has to leave you healing without feeling improvised.

Glyphs that improve throughput and mana economy

Good glyph for Holy PvE is what:

  • keeps your healing relevant for long fights
  • avoids wasting mana
  • improves your value in progression attempts

Raid punishes healer who heals well for 1 minute and collapses afterwards.

Priority of attributes by gear phase

In the beginning

  • intellect and mana management weigh a lot
  • enough throughput to not fall behind damage

With more gear

  • your base is more comfortable
  • you can refine the profile according to the raid and its function

The big mistake is to build as if you were already on advanced gear.

Organization of cooldowns in long encounters

Good Holy Paladin doesn't use cooldown just to put out fires. He:

  • maps phase
  • guard to the right window
  • responds before collapse
  • coordinates with the rest of the healers

When the raid gets tight, the Paladin needs to appear predictable, not desperate.

Errors that drain mana and reduce consistency

1. Over-healing where you don’t need it

2. Save cooldown until too late

3. Bad positioning

4. Lack of phase reading

5. Assembling the build without respecting the type of raid you are doing

Minimum recommendation

For Holy Paladin PvE:

  1. build the tree for stability and mana
  2. use glyphs that reinforce real throughput
  3. respect the phase of your gear
  4. arrange cooldowns per encounter
  5. Stop Healing on Impulse

Holy Paladin remains central in raiding because it delivers a lot when the player treats healing as planning, not just reaction.
