Garrosh didn't just want to escape — he wanted to correct history
Garrosh's escape works so well because it is not simple evasion. He doesn't run away to survive in hiding. He runs away to try to prove that his vision of orcish greatness was right — but at another point in the story.
Kairoz and the Bronze Dragonflight
The centerpiece of this escape is Kairozdormu, a bronze dragon willing to manipulate time in dangerous ways. The official Warlords of Draenor timeline summarizes this clearly: Garrosh escaped justice with the help of Kairozdormu and ended up in a Draenor in the time before the original Horde.
Return to Draenor before corruption
Garrosh and Kairoz travel to a Draenor from another time stream, before the original Horde drinks Mannoroth's blood. This does not replace the main line. Creates a branch connected to the present.
What Garrosh Changed
Once there, Garrosh uses knowledge of the future to convince Grommash Hellscream and other warlords to reject the Legion's demonic offer. But this “deviation” does not generate peace. Generates:
- brutal militarization
- unification of clans under new ideology
- war engineering
- and the formation of the Iron Horde
Final summary
With help from Kairozdormu and his manipulation of the Bronze Dragonflight, Garrosh escapes trial in Pandaria and is taken to an alternate Draenor some 35 years in the past, before the classic corruption of the Horde. This new timeline does not replace the main one, but creates a real branch within the canon. Garrosh uses his knowledge of the future to prevent the clans' original downfall—only to push them in another direction, founding the Iron Horde.
This is why this escape remains so important: Garrosh didn't just escape justice. He escaped to try to rewrite orcish history — and ended up creating a new version of ruin.
