Player of the week: builds, evolution and community history

•Community•Brendo Arruda

What is the “Player of the Week” board for?

It can do three things at once:

  • recognize someone from the community
  • inspire other players
  • transform real experience into practical learning

If it's just an ego show, the picture gets old quickly. If it becomes a useful reference, it creates a link and recurrence.

1. Criteria for selecting the weekly highlight

Good criteria

What it is for: Give legitimacy to the painting.

You can choose by:

  • clear evolution
  • overcoming difficulties
  • well executed build
  • consistent progression
  • contribution to the community

The best highlight is not always the strongest. It is often the most inspiring and teachable.

2. Player evolution and practical learning

The picture looks better when it shows:

  • where the player started
  • what was the bottleneck
  • what was adjusted
  • what changed in the result

This turns the highlight into something replicable.

3. Build used and progression decisions

Every edit must respond:

  • which class/spec was used?
  • why did this build make sense?
  • what gearing, rotation or routine decisions helped?
  • what can other players copy from there?

4. How to turn the board into a useful reference

  1. tell the story in order
  2. Highlight 1–2 Core Learnings
  3. show real progress, not just the end result
  4. make it clear what was a specific context and what was a general lesson

5. Format checklist for recurring publication

  • [ ] name/character/guild when it makes sense
  • [ ] context of evolution
  • [ ] build used
  • [ ] main decision that changed performance
  • [ ] hands-on learning for the community
  • [ ] short closure with replicable lesson

Useful extras

| Part of the frame | Value | |---|---| | Short story | Create connection | | Build summary | Generates utility | | Error corrected | Teach fast | | Visible progress | Motivates participation |

What to avoid

  • transform the board into a disguised ranking
  • always select the same player profile
  • highlight only top performance without learning
  • post without enough context

Minimum recommendation

“Player of the Week” works best when:

  1. recognize without idolizing
  2. teaches without getting too technical
  3. Shows real evolution
  4. invites the community to participate

The best weekly highlight is the one that makes the reader think: “I can improve like this too”.
