What defines real progress for DPS?
DPS does not progress only when changing items. Progresses when:
- gear improves
- caps fall into place
- uptime goes up
- cooldown fits better
- real damage in the fight increases
Meter alone doesn't tell the whole story.
Gear and stats goals per phase
Fresh / input
- correct build
- important caps respected
- mapped weapon/trinket
- minimum enchants/gems
Middle of the progression
- big upgrades first
- more coherent stats
- fewer “dead” slots
- best spec fit
Endgame
- fine stat refining
- high uptime control
- more consistent fight-by-fight
- lower loss per execution
Execution points to increase uptime
- walk less
- choose the target better
- Do not overcap feature
- use cooldown in useful window
- Do not break the rotation due to nervousness
Weekly upgrades priority
General rule
- weapon
- trinkets
- strong tier/off-piece
- missing enchants and gems
- smaller slot only later
DPS that spreads farm on everything takes longer to see an improvement.
Errors that drop real damage
- crooked caps
- bad position
- wrong target
- poorly used cooldown
- beautiful gear on paper and bad on spec
- depend on dummy and not train in real fight
DPS evolution checklist

- [ ] correct build/glyphs
- [ ] revised basic caps
- [ ] priority weapon/trinkets defined
- [ ] UI and rotation under control
Average progression
- [ ] improving uptime
- [ ] biggest weekly bottleneck mapped
- [ ] cooldown coming in better
- [ ] less resource waste
Endgame
- [ ] refined stats
- [ ] stable real damage in encounter
- [ ] cleaner motion
- [ ] fight knowledge improving execution
Minimum recommendation
DPS progresses more when:
- Treats gear and execution as a pair
- Protects uptime
- improves impact upgrades
- Measures real damage, not just gauge ego
Good DPS is what turns each week into more consistency, not just more item level.
