What does Feral Tank want in the beginning?
Feral Tank doesn't mount gear like Warrior or DK, but it still needs a very clear base:
- robustness
- armor
- stamina
- enough threat
- defensive itemization that doesn't kill stability
Bear's good progression starts with survival. The rest come in later.
Defensive stats priority at the start
1. Stamina
It continues to be a very strong axis of the setup.
2. Armor
It helps a lot to make the spec comfortable with physical damage.
3. Threat on a practical level
You don't want to hold on to the scare pack because you lacked basic tank damage.
4. Other refinements
Once the base is strong, the rest of the adjustment comes in.
Feral Tank has a much more stable progression when the player stops thinking only about HP and starts thinking about real toughness.
Essential items for holding content
The slots that change the feel of the spec the most tend to be:
- trinkets
- large slots with stamina/armor
- strong crafted parts
- Heroic/Titan Rune upgrades
- useful reputation items
When these slots come in, Bear starts to look much more “tanky” and less improvisational.
Most useful dungeons and upgrade sources
Heroics / Titan Rune
Great for building a base.
Crafted
They often help speed up problematic slots.
Reputation
It remains valuable for important parts of the set.
Inbound raids
They serve to take the character out of the “functional” setup and into the stable setup.
Common gearing errors in Feral Tank
1. Think only about stamina
2. Ignore trinkets
3. Treating offensive gear as if it were enough to tank
4. Not reviewing the set
5. Entering harder content too early because “the bear has a lot of life”
Evolution roadmap until raids
- close stamina and armor base
- get real tank trinkets
- use heroic/reputation/crafted for large slots
- Fix Threat Comfortable
- enter a raid when the spec is stable, not just with high HP
Feral Tank grows much better when progression follows a clear defensive logic.
