Halls of Reflection is where WotLK demands real communication in dungeons
HoR is not just another 5-man. It has a chained encounter rhythm, requires real positioning and punishes groups that think gear solves everything. It doesn't solve it.
Why HoR is different
Because the dungeon revolves around control and collective survival. It is not enough for everyone to “play their own”. If the group does not play as a group, the dungeon dismantles.
Phase 1: waves and positioning
This part defines the run. The group needs:
- choose your defense point carefully
- control target priority
- interrupt, stun and survive together
Bad PUG dies here due to too much ego and too little discipline.
Phase 2: The Lich King's Gauntlet
Here the feeling of pressure increases a lot. The goal is not to “win DPS race”. The objective is to survive by correctly executing escape, use of the environment and coordination.
Minimum composition so as not to suffer so much
You want:
- reliable tank
- healer with good burst reading
- DPS with control, not just raw damage
HoR gets much worse when the group is assembled just thinking about DPS numbers.
Checklist before entering
| Item | Confirm | |---|---| | Group knows where to hold the waves | | | Combined Interrupts/DC | | | Healer and tank are comfortable with burst | | | Everyone understands that phase 2 is guided survival | |
Minimum recommendation
- only enter HoR with a group willing to listen to the call
- match phase 1 positioning before pull
- Value control and interruption more than Parse
- treat the final gauntlet as a test of collective survival
- if the composition is too crooked, adjust expectations before insisting
