How to Enter ICC and TOC Ready: A Quick Checklist of Gear, Consumables, and Role
Use this checklist 10 minutes before the raid
If you want to enter ICC and TOC with a better chance of success, review these points every time.
1) Gear and setup
- No major item level gaps in key slots
- Gems and enchants up to date
- Correct talents and glyphs for your role
- Essential addons active (DBM, raid frames, meter)
If you ignore basic setup, the group notices within 2 pulls.
2) Minimum consumables
- Enough flask for the session
- Buff food
- Utility and combat potions
- Repaired before entering
Consumables are not a detail. They are part of your reliability in raid.
3) Checklist by role
Tank
- Defensive cooldowns mapped per encounter
- Taunt swaps coordinated
- Clear pull path to avoid early chaos
Healer
- Raid cooldown order defined
- Priority on critical targets adjusted
- Mana plan ready for long attempts
DPS
- Target priority reviewed
- Interrupts and utilities mapped
- Defensives ready for high-risk mechanics
4) Communication and attitude
- Confirm the raid schedule and duration
- Understand 2-3 key calls before the first pull
- Avoid arguments mid-fight
- Report issues objectively
Players who communicate well earn more recurring spots than those who only watch the damage meter.
5) Signs you are not ready yet
- Missing enchant or gem in multiple slots
- Unfamiliar with the basic boss mechanics for the night
- Entering without consumables
- Relying on "someone explain it to me during the pull"
In that case, fix it before entering. Fifteen minutes of preparation beats two hours of wipes.
Pug message template
Use something simple in chat:
"[Role/Spec], gem/enchant ok, consumables ready, knows base tactics, available until XXh."
A clear message significantly increases your invite rate.
Final summary
A good raid does not start on the pull. It starts in preparation.
With this checklist, you reduce avoidable mistakes, improve your reputation, and turn ICC/TOC into real progression every week.
