Why does reputation still matter so much?
Because reputation in WotLK isn't just about mount or lore. She also delivers:
- head enchants
- shoulder enchants
- input gear
- recipes
- utility items
Wowhead's reputation overview divides Northrend's factions into tabard, tabardless, and faction-specific reputations, and highlights Sons of Hodir for shoulder enchants. Factions like Knights of the Ebon Blade, Kirin Tor and Argent Crusade also deliver very relevant head enchants and progression rewards.

- Argent Crusade in multiple entry phases

Priority by spec and game objective
Fresh 80 PvE
prioritize reputations that unlock enchant and real slot
Advanced catch-up
the weight drops a little, but it is still important to complete the setup and avoid a stupid hole
PvP
the value changes a lot; reputation often loses to resilience/direct competitive gear, but can still help in transition
Key rewards from each reputation
Sons of Hodir
shoulders
Knights of the Ebon Blade
physical head enchants and special value for DK
Kirin Tor
head enchants caster/healer
Argent Crusade
head enchants for various profiles and useful items in progression
Other reputations
can be entered more by gear, recipe or specific niche than by fixed enchant
Common prioritization mistakes
1. Making the wrong reputation for the spec
2. Skip Sons of Hodir too soon
3. Do not wear a tabard when the faction allows it
4. Farming reputation out of habit, without needing it anymore
5. Leaving reputation enchant for later and delaying the character
Reputation checklist per profile
- Which head enchant do I need?
- Which shoulder enchant do I need?
- Does my spec still need gear or recipes from that faction?
- Does this reputation have tabard?
- Is it worth doing it now or have I already lost the timing?
Minimum recommendation
In WotLK, a good reputation is one that:
- unlocks important enchant
- closes progression hole
- talk to your spec
- it is done at the right time
Reputation is not a decorative checklist. It's a real part of the character's foundation.
