The central objective of the WSG
Warsong Gulch is a map of:
- capture the flag
- defense
- escort
- route control
It is not a map of “who kills the most”.
Basic match flow
The match revolves around:
- leave the base with the flag
- defend your carrier
- delay or eliminate the enemy carrier
- control the space between the two bases
The beginner's problem is treating the entire map as if it were a duel corridor.
Roles by class in attack and defense
Attack
Classes with:
- mobility
- pressure
- peel
- clean escort
Defense
Classes with: -sustain
- control
- route reading
- ability to delay
Not every class should do the same thing all the time in WSG.
Most common decision errors
- abandon defense too early
- chase a kill away from the carrier
- ignore position communication
- fight in the middle unrelated to the flag
- leaving the team without a peel at a crucial moment
Team communication tips
Call it short: -carrier
- approximate number
- route
- defense down
- push or reset
In WSG, useful communication is worth more than long, late text.
Tactical checklist for WSG
- [ ] do I know if I'm defending, escorting or pressing?
- [ ] does my fight help the flag?
- [ ] do I know where the enemy carrier is?
- [ ] am I really protecting my carrier?
- [ ] Is the team playing flag or just fighting in the middle?
Minimum recommendation
To get started better in WSG:
- think about flag before kill
- Protect space, not just hallway
- communicate route and carrier
- make your function on the map
WSG seems simple. The difficult thing is to remember that the flag always matters more than the ego of the fight.
