What is the server auction system and how to participate

What is Azeroth Legacy's auction system?

The server has its own auction system — separate or complementary to the game's standard Auction House — where special items, mounts, cosmetics and other exclusive content are competed for by players.

Unlike common AH, these auctions have a structured format: defined period, minimum bid, minimum increment per bid and closing time. It's a real dispute with clear rules.

Basic rules and auction format

Each auction has:

  • Item up for grabs — could be cosmetic, mount, exclusive gear item or other content
  • Minimum initial bid — entry value to participate
  • Minimum increment — how much each new bid needs to exceed the previous one
  • Duration — time window in which bids are accepted
  • Automatic extension — moves made in the last few minutes can extend the time (avoids sniping in the last second)

The currency used in auctions varies — it can be gold, CP or a combination. Check before entering.

How to prepare to compete efficiently

Before entering any auction:

  1. Set your ceiling — the most you are willing to spend. Don't improvise in the heat of the dispute
  2. Research the item — is it worth it? Will it be useful in 2 weeks or will it depreciate with raid gear?
  3. Have a reservation — do not enter with exactly the maximum amount available. Always keep margin
  4. Monitor the pace — auctions with few bids at the beginning can accelerate at the end

Bidding strategies to avoid losses

Bid early, bid hard: A solid bid early discourages less committed competitors.

Don't React Emotionally: If someone repeatedly outbids you, it could be a sign that the item is worth more — or that the competitor is willing to pay more than makes sense. Knowing how to stop is part of the strategy.

Avoid bidding wars with high ceilings: When two players keep outbidding each other in tiny increments, one of them will pay more than the item is worth. Set your ceiling beforehand and respect it.

Common auction beginner mistakes

  • Log in without setting a maximum limit
  • Spend the entire reserve in a single auction and run out of resources for the next one
  • Not checking if the item will be replaced soon by normal progression
  • Ignore price history from previous auctions (when available)
  • Participate on impulse in an item that was not a priority

Checklist before entering into dispute

  • [ ] I know exactly what the item does and if it is useful to me now
  • [ ] I set my maximum bid and I won't go over
  • [ ] I have enough reserves after the possible expense
  • [ ] I checked the accepted currency and have an available balance
  • [ ] I understand the time extension rules for this specific auction
