He was killed by Danath Trollbane. Ner'zhul and Teron Gorefiend got away and went to the Black Temple, where they would begin the spell.

Kilrogg Deadeye

Kilrogg Deadeye was one of the oldest chieftains of the Horde. His clan, the Bleeding Hollow, had a ritual: young warriors tore out one eye to see the future. Kilrogg had seen, in a vision, how he would die.

What this changes in the story

Kilrogg Deadeye is one of the oldest chieftains of the Horde, present since the First War. His death, covering Ner'zhul's escape, is one of the last great deaths of the old Horde.

The Bleeding Hollow ritual of tearing out an eye to see the future is one of the best-known orc traditions. In Warlords of Draenor, the alternate version of Kilrogg appears as one of the warlords of the Iron Horde.
